DAZN’s next phase may be defined less by the rights it owns and more by the sports businesses it operates for others.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have made DAZN their exclusive local media home. YES Network and MSG Networks are keeping control of their brands and rights while using DAZN to run direct subscriptions for the Yankees, Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Islanders, Devils and Sabres. ViewLift adds the technology and relationships behind 15 major US teams and five regional sports networks.

Together, these deals show how much the model has changed.

DAZN can buy rights, sell subscriptions, operate team branded services and provide streaming, payments, customer management and advertising for rights owned by somebody else.

The same flexibility runs across the wider business. Premium rights support subscriptions in Europe and Japan. NFL Game Pass, NHL.TV and Courtside 1891 turn DAZN into a global distributor. Foxtel adds television, production and advertising, while FIFA+ builds a free global audience.

DAZN is trying to earn more from each sport while taking less financial risk.

More than $7 billion has been invested in the platform, yet it still lost $936 million in 2024.

The Company Beneath the Rights

DAZNs content regularly reaches more than 300 million people through subscriptions, free programming, social media and sublicensed distribution, while its paying subscriber base was approaching 20 million in early 2025. The company streamed more than 90,000 live events across over 200 markets in 2024, rising to more than 140,000 by the time it acquired ViewLift in April 2026.
