As I write this, a record 138,000 people have passed through the gates of Roland Garros during Opening Week of the 2026 edition. This figure is up from 80,000 in 2025 and 75,000 the year before. Daily capacity has increased to 20,000 spectators for this year’s tournament, and all 80,000 tickets for the first five days sold out before a single qualifying match had even been played.
The business behind Roland Garros is growing just as quickly as the crowds walking through its gates. The tournament generated around €250 million in revenue in 2022. This figure rose to roughly €300 million in 2023, climbed to €338 million in 2024, and moved toward somewhere between €370 million and €395 million in 2025. During this year’s prize money dispute with the French Tennis Federation, players stated that Roland Garros generated €395 million in 2025 and is expected to surpass €400 million for the 2026 edition. The tournament has been growing at roughly 13 to 18 percent annually for four consecutive years.
The business is built across four major revenue streams. Broadcast rights make up around 40 percent of total revenue, which would mean close to €160 million annually if the tournament crosses the €400 million mark. Ticketing and hospitality together account for another 33 percent, or around €130 million. Merchandise contributes just under 10 percent and the remaining 20 percent comes from the tournament’s 22 commercial partners, generating around €80 million.
Warner Bros. Discovery signed a new 10-year US rights agreement in 2025 worth roughly $65 million annually, increasing the French Tennis Federation’s American broadcast income by about $53 million per year, a jump of more than 440 percent from the previous deal. The sponsorship portfolio includes a partnership that has existed since 1973 and was renewed again, less than 24 hours ago, as the 2026 tournament began. The merchandise business sells two products every second for three consecutive weeks. And the clay surface on which €59.5 million in prize money is contested across the fortnight costs €22,800 to supply.
