HSEG is trying to build something African sport has rarely had: a permanent capital platform that owns different parts of the same sports and entertainment economy.
Its portfolio stretches from NBA Africa and PFL Africa to Zaria and The Malachite Group. NBA Africa gives HSEG exposure to basketball rights and commercial growth across the continent. PFL Africa is building a new MMA property from scratch. Zaria is developing venues, hospitality and mixed use infrastructure, including a $294.49m arena district in Nairobi. Malachite brings live entertainment brands such as Afro Nation, along with access to artists, sponsors and audiences.
HSEG is trying to link the IP that attracts fans with the events they attend, the venues they enter, the hotels and hospitality they use, and the entertainment that keeps them spending.
